Common questions
Common questions
How fit do I need to be?
Kilimanjaro is a long walk at altitude, not a technical climb. If you can hike 6–7 hours on consecutive days you can attempt it. We build in acclimatisation days and 'pole pole' (slow) pacing.
Which route has the best success rate?
Longer routes with more acclimatisation — 8-day Lemosho and the 9-day Northern Circuit — have the highest summit rates. The 5-day Marangu is the shortest and hardest to summit.
How are the porters treated?
We follow fair-porter guidelines on pay, load limits, meals and gear. Tips are additional and go directly to your crew.
What about altitude sickness?
Every guide carries a pulse oximeter and emergency oxygen, and does twice-daily health checks. Serious cases descend immediately. Travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking and evacuation is required.
