5-Day Tanzania Great Safari
Overview:
A five-day safari in Tanzania visiting Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater is a perfect combination of wildlife, stunning landscapes, and diverse ecosystems.
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha & Transfer to Tarangire National Park
- Morning: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport. Meet your guide and transfer to Tarangire National Park (about 2-2.5 hours drive from Arusha). Upon arrival, start your afternoon game drive in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is one of Tanzania’s premier wildlife destinations, renowned for its majestic baobab trees and abundant wildlife, including large herds of elephants, zebras, and giraffes. Then stop for a delicious picnic lunch surrounded by the beauty of the park. As the day comes to a close, head to your lodge for a peaceful evening and relaxation.
Day 2: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
- Morning: After an early breakfast, head to Lake Manyara National Park. Upon arrival, explore Lake Manyara, which is famous for its tree-climbing lions, flamingo populations, and large herds of elephants. The park offers a mix of habitats, including the lake itself, forested areas, and open grasslands. Birdwatching is fantastic here too, with variety of bird species display in the park. Also expect to see large flamingo flocks, circling birds of prey, and the brightly colored lilac-breasted roller. The park is truly a photographer’s playground and offers some of the best game viewings in Africa . In everning return to your lodge near the park for a relaxing evening.
Day 3: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park
- Morning: Early breakfast, then drive to Serengeti National Park. On the way, you can stop to visit the Ngorongoro Crater rim for spectacular views. Arrive at the Serengeti in the afternoon , one of the world’s most famous safari destinations, and embark on a game drive. Explore the vast savannas of the Serengeti, home to the Great Migration and diverse wildlife such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, and wildebeest. After a game drive head to your lodge for overnight stay in the Serengeti.
Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

- Early Morning: begin sunrise game drive in the heart of the Serengeti. Early morning is one of the best times to see predators such as lion, cheetahs, and Leopards as they are more active. Early morning game drives often provide opportunities to witness incredible chases and kills. a successful hunt may result in the predator feeding, and your guide will typically share fascinating details about the hunting behaviors. Also the soft morning light provides excellent conditions for capturing photos of predators in action, from stalking to the actual chase. Sometimes you’ll hear the sounds of predators before you see them. A lion’s roar or the sound of a cheetah’s chase may signal a nearby hunt. in afternoon return to the lodge for a meal as well as relaxation waitng for late afternoon game drive. In late afternoon begin another game drive to explore different areas of Serengeti. Then after a full day game drive in serengeti going back to your lodge for overnight stay prepare for another exploration day in ngorongoro crater.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater & Return to Arusha
- Morning: After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater from Serengeti. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most remarkable places on Earth, a caldera that contains one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in the world. upon arrival, descend into the crater for an afternoon game drive. You’ll have a chance to see the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), along with zebras, wildebeest, and hippos in the crater’s lush floor. The ngorongoro crater itself, offers a unique and diverse wildlife experience with a mix of forest, lakes, and plains. After game drive in crater, you can either return to Arusha depending on your flight schedule, or stay overnight at a lodge near the crater before flying out the next day. In addition, If you have an extra day or two, you can enjoy a cultural tour in Arusha.

What to Pack.
Bring comfortable, neutral-colored clothing, a hat, sunscreen, and a camera. Mornings and evenings can be chilly, so a light jacket is recommended.
